Delays & Closings
The State of Indiana requires all students to attend school for 180 days. If school is closed for any reason, a virtual learning or eLearning day will be utilized and students will complete assignments on their school-issued Chromebooks at home. This day will count towards the required 180 school days. More information regarding virtual learning and eLearning days can be found on our online learning page.
A decision to delay or close school is normally made in the early morning hours. Only unusual circumstances will necessitate closing school the night before. Decisions are usually made before 6:30am, however, changing conditions could delay the announcement to a later time.
Notifications & Alerts
South Central utilizes SchoolMessenger for notifications and alerts. SchoolMessenger will notify families as soon as possible regarding weather-related delays or closings. This rapid calling system will use all phone numbers provided to the school as "alert phone numbers" during online registration. Local radio and TV stations will also broadcast the South Central Community School Corporations' weather-related school announcements.
To update your contact information used for notifications and alerts, log in to your Harmony Family Access account and select "Update Demographic Information" in the online registration section. SchoolMessenger will only use numbers entered in the "alert phone number" fields. You may also contact the school offices to have this information updated.
The school status in the upper-right corner of the school website will also be updated as soon as any changes are made to the school day:
