• All students must be dropped off at the back of the school.
• Both lanes will be used for drop-off.
• Students should use the sidewalks and avoid crossing in front of cars.
• Staff members will be present to help direct traffic and ensure students safely cross the crosswalk.
• All cars exiting the back parking lot need to exit using the North drive by the playground. U-turns in the back parking lot are not permitted.

• Jr.-Sr. High School students will be picked up using the lane closest to the parking lot (blue color on map).
• Stay in your car. Parking in the parking spaces and walking across to pick up your student(s) will not be allowed.
• Make sure transportation arrangements have been made before your student(s) arrive at school.
• Staff members will be present to help direct traffic and ensure students safely cross the crosswalk.
• Due to the number of car riders at the end of the school day, we are asking that if your student needs any assistance, have them get in the vehicle and pull forward. This will allow the line to continue to move.
• All cars exiting the back parking lot need to exit using the North drive by the playground. U-turns in the back parking lot are not permitted.

Because these policies are established to protect our students, we cannot make exceptions. Our goal is to make certain that your children are safe.

• Breakfast is served before school on late start Wednesdays.

• If a two-hour delay occurs on a Wednesday, late start will not be recognized and the two-hour delay schedule will be utilized.
• No breakfast is served before school on two-hour delays.
• On a two-hour delay, A. K. Smith students should report to the school for their 3rd hour study hall class.

Welcome to South Central Junior-Senior High School, home of the Satellites, and an Indiana Department of Education “A” rated school! SCHS serves approximately 480 students in grades 7-12. We are located in rural Union Mills, IN in southern LaPorte County. Here at South Central, we pride ourselves on a longstanding and rich tradition of academic excellence. That combined with the many programs we are able to offer to our students enables us to offer a rewarding and well-rounded educational experience to all children in the South Central community.

South Central works hard to provide a quality and equitable education for all of our students. Creating opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, is always a top priority of our school. Our goal is to prepare students with the skills and abilities to become successful citizens in our community and in the world. The South Central staff works hard to create instruction and learning experiences that relate to students’ lives and provides an opportunity for collaboration, critical thinking, and creation throughout the learning process. Our purpose is to create these learning opportunities for ALL students. We continue to focus on ways to enhance our opportunities for our high-ability learners while creating interventions and support for struggling students. Through a collaborative effort, we make it a priority to reach EVERY student and maximize their potential here at SC.
