I am South Central Elementary School’s full-time school counselor. I started at SC in September of 2012! I love glitter and animals! I have 2 dogs; Albert and Arthur and 3 cats; Oscar, Shirley Pickles, and Teddy! I teach fitness classes and really enjoy exercise as a stress reliever! My involvement with the students takes place in several ways. One function of a school counselor is to implement whole-school prevention programs, such as, bully prevention education, character education, drug and alcohol awareness, and career education. These lessons generally take place during weekly Counselor time. I will be bringing in a new program this year called Too Good for Violence which focuses on empowering the students by providing skills related to social-emotional learning and character building! All students have the opportunity to meet with me, as needed. Students are instructed to leave me a note and I will schedule with their teacher to meet with them during their non-instructional time. In addition, I also meet individually with students whom would benefit from (weekly/ bi-weekly) counseling. Lastly, I am available to meet with parents. As needed, I can meet with parents individually to discuss specific concerns or to serve as a liaison for families needing community resources. Please feel free to contact me at (219) 767-2269 ext. 2103 if you have any questions or concerns.

South Central is a wonderful school corporation and it has been my pleasure to teach here for many years. I am currently teaching First Grade. It is a thrilling and rewarding experience to watch these young children develop their reading, writing, and math skills. I grew up in the small town of Bourbon, Indiana and went to Triton Elementary and High School. From there I went to Ball State University to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Purdue University is where my Masters degree in Elementary Education was completed. The South Central area is where my husband Barry and I raised our three children (Seth, Audrey, and Chad) until May 2005. We currently reside in Plymouth, Indiana.

While at Olivet, I took a semester to study abroad in Sydney, Australia.
